Easy and Festive Baking Recipe: GingerBread Cookies!

December is sure to be full of excitement when you have little ones at home! This recipe is perfect to make in the run up to Christmas, whether you want a fun activity to fill the afternoon, simple homemade gifts for school and good friends or an easy Christmas dessert... we've got you covered!

Let's make Gingerbread Cookies together!

One of children's favorite sweet snacks is none other than cookies. Gingerbread cookies are now a symbol of Christmas and one can find them in decorations, on Christmas trees, in pastry shops and of course make them, since they are the quintessential Christmas cookies. They are crunchy with a wonderful aroma, a special taste that children love and go perfectly with the morning milk or your morning coffee!

Decorate your cookies with your kids for a fun Christmas activity! The basic recipe for making Gingerbread cookies or trees or stars or whatever design you want is as follows:

Ingredients:

1 egg

3.5 cups of all-purpose flour

3/4 brown sugar

3/4 cup molasses or honey

2.5 teaspoon ginger powder

1/2 cup butter

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon freshly ground nutmeg and cloves

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon orange zest

Salt

For the icing:

2 egg whites

3 cups of powdered sugar

vanilla

food color

Procedure:

In a bowl, mix the flour, the ginger, the baking powder, the cinnamon, the nutmeg, the cloves and the salt.
Add the butter and the sugar to the mixer, then the egg and beat them, the next addition is the honey or molasses and the orange zest. Beat all the ingredients in the mixer at medium speed!
On low speed, gradually add all the solid ingredients you initially put in the bowl and continue mixing. Once your dough is ready, flour it and roll it out with a rolling pin!


Finally it's the creative part of the recipe… you choose festive hoop designs and cookie cutters to cut the dough and make your cookies. The different designs will give a playful touch to the whole process while the result will be very festive!

As soon as your designs are ready, put them on a baking tray with greaseproof paper and bake in a preheated oven at 180C for 10'. You take them out soft and they harden as they cool. If you want to decorate with cake decorating icing bag, you create the design you want on the cookies and they are ready!
